From 10th – 14th October, Vicky Williams, CEO and Laura Stanley, Head of Marketing embarked upon a challenge like no other. Taking on ‘Live Below the Line’ along with two colleagues from Emerald Publishing, the group survived on £1 per day for all food and drink and raised a staggering £1,693.04 for their nominated charity, Plan International UK.
Seeking to encourage everyone to think differently about hunger and the choices that we all make every day, the team rapidly discovered that they had to be creative with their minimal rations. Dishes such as turnip stew and garlic porridge emerged as interesting additions to the menu while pasta and rice proved to be reliable staples.
Tough as the challenge was, we are delighted to have raised such significant funds for Plan International UK. The global charity works with children in the world’s poorest countries to help them build a better future.
